Lisa McCune is glad she can bring her kids to work
Actress, Lisa McCune spoke to Good Health and Medicine Magazine for their October issue, where she revealed that she likes that that her role on Sea Patrol allows her to have her children, Archer, 6, Oliver, 3 and Remy, 2 on set with her.
I’m lucky because my children can come on set:
“When I first spoke to the producers about the show, I told them, “I can’t do it without my children” and they understood. I think I’m better for having my kids around, and they know I work hard. They came up with me and had a wonderful time. For the next series, I’ll be away for three months. My mum helped last time, but this time I think my husband [Tim Disney] will. He’s really a terrific dad and I think it’s great for him to be involved in the nitty gritty stuff.”
I’m a better mother when I’m working:
“I don’t do classes or go to the gym. My ‘me’ time is my work and I find it invigorating. I come home refreshed. There’s no perfect scenario when you have children. I’m always asking other people for advice, and they give good advice but everybody’s situation is so different. I’m always thinking, how do I make this work and what’s good for the children, and what’s good for me.”
Family is what makes me happy:
“I know it sounds corny — I really love hanging out with my kids at home, in the sandpit or at the beach. It can be the hardest thing, but it’s the most rewarding. The most relaxing part of my day, though, is when I get the kids to bed and turn off the light, and look at them asleep. I make myself a cup of tea and eat chocolate. I do this every night. Then, I sit up in bed and read. I also love the movies, but I don’t get out as much as I like. However, I’m sniffing freedom. I can see a time when Grandma can stay with the kids while we go out.”

Shannon Noll admits to having to ‘win over’ Sienna after being on tour
Singer, Shannon Noll has admitted whilst chatting to Woman’s Day Magazine this week, that after he has been on tour for a few weeks, he has to win over his daughter Sienna, 11 months! Shannon and wife Rochelle also have two sons, Cody, 6 and Blake, 4. The picture to the left is of the family at the Ratatouille premiere last month.
On missing his family whilst on tour: Rochelle is a godsend. She’s been a single parent for most of the past three years. She’s so supportive and kept sending me pictures of the kids over the phone. When I got back, Sienna looked at me for the first few days with this expression of, ‘Who are you?’ It took me three days to win her over.

Bridie Carter on her son and more children
Aussie actress, Bridie Carter took a two-year break from her acting career after son Otis was born 2 years ago, but the former McLeod’s Daughters star has signed on for the latest series of Dancing with the Stars, which air next Tuesday. She spoke to Woman’s Day Magazine this week about her son and the possibility of more children with husband Michael Wilson.
On Otis: He’s delicious, edible, my heart explodes with love! After he was born, I said I didn’t realise how much love you could feel for your child, but it gets better and better. He’s at such a wonderful age now. It makes it hard to go to work, but he comes with me to every job. He was only five weeks old when I went back to McLeod’s. I look back with horror. I was working 60-hour weeks and breastfeeding.
On more children: That’s the question everyone asks as soon as you have one child! I didn’t think I wanted another baby at first, but my dear cousin Jess told me something would happen once Otis turned two, and it has. We would love him to have a sibling. I think he would be a great brother. Not yet, but I’m open to the idea. That’s the plan.

Naomi Watts reveals her plans to bring Alexander to Australia
Aussie actress, Naomi Watts gave her first Australian interview to The Morning Show’s Hollywood Correspondent Nelson Aspen last Tuesday, whilst at the Toronto Film Festival promoting her new film Eastern Promises. During which she spoke about her son, Alexander, 7 weeks and her and fiancee Liev Schreiber’s plans to bring Alexander to Australia for Christmas. Below is a transcript I’ve written but you can also watch the interview below.
Nelson: Congratulations! You’re a new mum, everyone in Australia is excited for you. How has motherhood already changed you?
Naomi: It’s a very powerful thing. I’m still finding it so bizarre that this little thing came out of me! He’s just a joy, a complete joy. All those cliches are true and he just moves me every day. It’s weird being away from him — I feel like a piece of my body is missing.
Nelson: You’re tiny — you’ve got your figure back!
Naomi: It’s not quite [back] it’s well hidden.
Nelson: You as a mother and me as a son I know that you now have a friend for life — he’s your buddy forever.
Naomi: Yep, I’m very happy about it.
Nelson: When are you going to take him to Australia?
Naomi: I hope to take him for Christmas, to show the rellies.
Nelson: Now we’re a little concerned because there was some quote in the press about you saying you consider yourself British — and we got a little nervous that you we’re renouncing your Australianism.
Naomi: No, I’d like to take this opportunity to clear that up. I’m both very much Australian and I’m very much English. I’ve spent a good about of time in both. I mean my parents bore me in England and I spent my first 14 years there. I’ve never tried to deny my Australian culture and I consider myself very Australian and very connected to Australia. In fact when people say where’s home I say Australia because those are [where] my most powerful memories [are]. My mum still lives in England so I’m back there a lot. So I am both a combination of Australian and English.
Nelson: I was over to cover Nicole Kidman’s wedding last year and we were on the same flight back and you were hanging out with Connor and Isabella and their aunt — but I was struck by how normal those children were, they were not ’star kids’. I was so impressed with the whole dynamic of you all. How are you going to keep your kid from being a ‘Hollywood kid’?
Naomi: We want our child to be raised as a normal kid — and living in New York City — I think that’s where we’re going to be spending most of our time. It’s impossible not to — you’re connecting with all types of lives. We won’t let that happen. Absolutely not.

Maggie Goodwin & Sarah Delahunt talk about their ‘Brownlow bumps’
Sarah Delahunt, fiancee of recently retired Adelaide Crows AFL player Mark Ricciuto was pregnant with the couple’s daughter, Sophie, now 10 months, during last year’s Brownlow Medal Awards night [which recognises the performance of the best AFL players] and this year, her friend Maggie Goodwin, wife of Crows player Simon Goodwin is expecting their third child, which is making finding a dress for next Monday’s Awards a little difficult.
The friends went dress shopping at Adelaide designer, Alexis George on Friday, where they talked about their ‘Brownlow Bumps’. Maggie is 26 weeks pregnant with a sibling for daughters Lily, 6 and Isabella, 2 — but the couple have decided to keep the gender of the baby a secret:
“I’ve been feeling really good, actually, besides some sickness early on, I’ve been good.”
Sarah recalls last year’s Awards night — where she had to stick to drinking water:
“At least I can enjoy a few drinks this year. But I still really enjoyed it last year when I didn’t drink. It’s a good night.”
Sarah and Mark are loving parenthood:
“Mark just loves her and I’m loving motherhood, just to see little bits of both of us in her, even though she’s the spitting image of her Dad.”

Jana Rawlinson on: son Cornelis, balancing training & more babies
World Champion hurdler, Jana Rawlinson spoke to New Idea Magazine this week on how she’s finding motherhood since her son Cornelis was born last December, how she is juggling training and looking after Cor and her and husband Chris Rawlinson’s baby plans!

On the thrill of becoming a mum: “Other athlete mums said to me: ‘A gold medal is great, but it can never compare to the birth of a child, and now I know it’s absolutely true. My heart melted when Cor was born – I’m in love with him! When he smiles I melt. He’s my gold medal – having him is the ultimate. Everything from here is a bonus.”
On how Cor has calmed her: “I’m much happier and more relaxed. Before Cor arrived I was so intense – the slightest upheaval would get me very stressed. Now I don’t have time to focus on little things. If I come home after a bad day training, Cor doesn’t care. He’s smiling and suddenly everything’s in perspective. Before I had him, I was so serious [before a race] and I had the attitude: ‘Don’t you dare speak to me or look at me – I’m focused.’ [But] here I [am now] spoonfeeding Cor on the side of the track just before the race!”
On underestimating how Cor’s arrival would affect on her life: “Motherhood’s totally different to what I thought it would be – it’s much harder and I had a lot of doubts after he was born as to whether I’d ever get my form back. I wasn’t expecting the lifestyle change – the sleepless nights, the time restraints, the sicknesses. I had days where I thought: ‘I’ll never race again.’”
On keeping fit: “I’m finding it very difficult to keep my weight off – I’ve permanently been on a diet since Cor was born and the early stages after Cor’s birth were pretty horrible. I had to train wearing protective gear because my breasts would leak and my bladder control wasn’t quite back to normal. But I’d do it all again tomorrow because it’s such a small price to pay for this beautiful addition to our lives. Motherhood is wonderful and I’m loving every bit of it.”
On Cor’s sickness throughout the year: “He’s had four really bad bouts and he’s my priority, so everything else had to wait. I never knew my heart could break so much for this little person and I feel this overwhelming sense of protection for him.”
On defying critics who said her career would be over after Cor’s arrival: “It’s the opposite, I have more drive and more determination, and the break has physically done me good. After going through childbirth, I’m confident I can cope with anything. Cor’s arrival has given me a different outlook on life. I now choose how I spend my time carefully because every minute I’m away from Cor must be worthwhile. I owe it to him that if I’m going to be away training or competing, I’m going to give it 100 per cent.”
On the couple’s baby plans: “Chris said if I win in Beijing [Olympics] I could have another baby. So that’s what I’m planning to do – if you’re on a winning plan stick to it!”
